It all started with a cup of coffee on a bike ride with a few close mates chatting about an Adelaide – Melbourne Ride for Cancer Council. Discussion led to committing to a similar ride between the two cities only in reverse. This developed into riding for Legacy through a contact in our group. We created the ‘Tour de Legacy’ with a very dedicated group of volunteers to help raise the Legacy Profile and much needed funds. What ensued was an amazing experience both challenging as a ride and extremely emotional and humbling in terms of a better understanding of what Legacy stands for and the wonderful things they do. The second ride from Canberra to Adelaide was equally as challenging but even more rewarding. I’m very proud to have been given the privilege to be part of this venture with Legacy. I’m looking forward to the challenge in Europe to once again help raise much needed funds and experience the emotion of riding through the battle fields culminating in the Armistice Service on Remembrance Day at Villers Bretonneux.
Finally, family support is key to Legacy values and the TDL Europe ride will be another opportunity to ride with my amazing brothers in memory of our Dad, sharing the experience, supporting an awesome cause and the comradery that goes with an epic adventure like this.
